DUBLIN, Ireland -- February 17, 2014 — Expanding its comprehensive portfolio of endovascular products, Covidien plc. today introduced the HydroFinity™ hydrophilic guidewire for use in catheter placement and other procedures to treat vascular diseases.
The HydroFinity guidewire is designed for easy navigation through the anatomy. It offers exceptional coating durability and lubricity, 1:1 torque response, predictable prolapse and kink resistance. For convenience and cost efficiency, a torque device is included with every wire.
'The HydroFinity guidewire handled tortuous anatomy and performed quite well in heavily calcified lesions as well as chronic total occlusions,' said Carlos Mena, MD, FACC, FSCAI, department of cardiovascular medicine at Yale University, and medical director vascular medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital. 'It performed as well as the leading wire.'
